Lighting Makes a Room

Pictured above, Chicago's Museum of Contemporary Art's fall fundraiser on Oct. 30. The event garnered 550 people and raised $2.8 at its art auction, making it the most profitable fundraiser in the museum's history.

When the Bookworms Come to Party

While green library lamps may not be the most glamorous look for a fundraising gala, it's nice to see how the event organizers of the Chicago Public Library Foundation and the Chicago Public Library's Carl Sandburg Literary Awards Dinner stayed true to their theme; creating a tasteful and cost-efficient tablescape. Having party favors as part of the table decor is a great way to simplify behind-the-scenes planning, and is an instant conversation booster.

Table lamps are a fun way to create an old fashioned, kitschy look. Plus, with this room's massive size, the lamps help establish a more intimate atmosphere among the tables.

Specialty Bar: Modern and Rustic
This bar is the coolest! I love everything about it: the natural birch panels, the accent lanterns, the contrasting clean and rough wood, and the overhead spotlights to highlight it all. Even the color scheme of the bottles seems thought out. This bar would do well in a wintery, upscale-yet-rugged themed event. Very modern and tre chic!

The All-Gold Gala at The Field Museum

This event, hosted last Saturday, celebrated the kick-off of The Field Museum's GOLD exhibit, running Oct. 20, 2010 - March 6, 2011. I absolutely love what Kehoe Designs did with the decor. One color, one lighting scheme, one theme - GOLD. It must have been fun planning for this.
Also, how much do you love the table arrangements? The designers did a great job mirroring the beautiful vaulted ceilings with the tall vases and candelabras.
